Solutions

The creation of fully integrated ‘end-to-end’ solutions requires a large number of factors to be taken into consideration, such as the desired colour area, whether the system will be used at POS or in the factory, base paint selection, and so on. The interoperability of the total system has to be ensured, not only between the key colorant and dispenser components, but also all other elements, such as the mixer, software and colour cards.

At CPS Color all these products are available under one roof. We are able to develop a well-integrated tinting system and solution to match customer-specific needs and ensure that our customers achieve the best possible ROI from their tinting solution investment.

Examples what to take into account when creating a tinting system:

Colorants
When deciding on colorant technology, it is important to consider the current paint portfolio that is the application area. In the decorative area for instance, colorants based on universal technology are suitable for both water and solvent-borne products and product-specific colorants for both technologies separately.
When defining the number of colorants in the system and the pigment indexes, it is important to consider the colour area needs at the point of sale. Another factor to consider is the size of the tinting machine, and more specifically the number of circuits that will be available.

Equipment
CPS Color has gained substantial experience in the field of colorant – equipment inter-functionality. When defining a suitable solution, issues that determine the type of equipment type and configuration needed include:

    • colorant technology (water-borne versus solvent-borne)
    • amount of colorants (determines the number of circuits)
    • efficiency needs (pump type, canister size).
Other factors to be considered are a footprint of the machine suitable for a paint shop, possible future colorant needs arising when introducing a new paint technology, and the current equipment fleet in use in case internal people will take care of the service.

Colour communication tools
A mix of colour communication tools is the way to personalise the offering in a highly competitive market. By the differentiation of the visual appearance you make brands and colours memorable. With a tempting visual set-up you help consumers to choose own colours.

Service
Paint stores’ peak times in paint selling, regularity or irregularity of the paint sales, and tinted paint volumes per day all affects the needed level of service to keep business running without interruptions and have the maintenance done when best suitable.

Software
The habits, preferences and SW knowledge of the users vary a lot. That affects what kind of software is considered to be a perfect match in day-to-day use.
In designing the tinting solution also the needs for remote software and database updating, remote sales data collection and remote dispenser configuration must be taken into account.

Matching service
The colour formulations in CPS Color’s own large database are built up with a set of well-proven criteria used to meet universal needs. The database can also be built from scratch. The criteria for the colour formulations are then set to support the specific needs related to cost, hiding power, exterior durability and so on. This means that the possibilities for building up the database are infinite.
Depending on the people buying the colours, on the base paint brand image or on the application area, for example, colour formulations can be fine-tuned from the brightest shades to most durable colours and many more alternatives between.
